Science sampled at The Radclyffe School

Primary Pupils enjoy taste of secondary school science

Children from seven primary schools across Oldham travelled to The Radclyffe School in Chadderton for a fascinating morning learning about science.

Dr Ken Farquar was on hand to give the pupils an introduction to science in the Showcase Circus. Using amongst other things a unicycle and juggling skills, Dr Ken helped to explain gravity, friction, equilibrium and gyroscopes!

The children also enjoyed practical science lessons in the school’s laboratories where they learned from nature to design helicopters.

Assistant Headteacher Denise Harrison said, “Our Primary Science Day gives a taste of how exciting and accessible science can be. It’s a chance to inspire the students about what’s possible when they come up to secondary school.”
