Sophie brings sport to inspire students

Judo Olympian Sophie Cox, who competed for Great Britain in Athens in 2004 and London 2012, and won silver and bronze medals in European and World Championships, visited The Radclyffe School today.

Sophie was the latest mentor in school as part of the Sky Sports Living for Sport programme, which brings champion ambassadors from varied sports into schools to coach and inspire students to reach their goals and achieve the very best they can.

The youngsters looked at what they need to succeed – learning about mental toughness, a hunger to achieve and the ability to break through barriers.

Visiting for the whole day, Sophie worked with year groups throughout the school. Sophie said, “I’ve greatly enjoyed working with all the young people who were enthusiastic and got involved. I hope they will use what they‘ve learned and take this further to ensure they are successful in all that they do.”

Teacher of PE Tony Ventre said, “We are really pleased to be involved with Living for Sport, which offers students an excellent experience and encourages them to be the best they can through sport.”
