The Rewards System

The rewards system is a means of encouraging students to produce classwork and homework to the best of their ability.

Merits earned during the school year can be "cashed in" for prizes from the Rewards Brochure.

Below are some key points and information about the rewards system we have in place here at The Radclyffe School.

  • There is one reward card to be used throughout the year which is in the personal organiser
  • Staff will give students merits done via a stamp or signature
  • Students will get a merit for 3 pieces of good work/homework
  • It is unlikely that students will achieve a merit in one lesson but over a series of lessons
  • You will give them a merit in their personal organiser on the reward card pages and not on the diary pages
  • Each PLG will have a rewards brochure in which students can choose the prizes they would like and work towards achieving them. It is clear how many merits are required for each prize
  • When a student 'cashes' in their merits it is important that the PLG cancels the merits used. The PLG will then fill in a slip which can be sent to the school office or directly to me in the Upper School Year managers office (next to Science). Prizes will be distributed shortly afterwards. Students can then strive to win other awards
  • Good attendance/punctuality and good behavior will be rewarded through end of term trips, certificates and activities
  • Stamps given to you by the year managers are for you to award merits for 3 pieces of good work/homework in PSHE/ERIC/Integrated Guidance/WRL/Enterprise
  • If any student reaches the end of the reward card they need to see me for a special sheet to collect merits for the Bike/IPOD/NintendoDS
  • There are some Traffic Light pages in the organizer. These can be used in lessons for students to indicate their level of understanding in a lesson – eg green - OK, orange – unsure, red - stuck. Teachers can then use these as a way to target their intervention. Please encourage students to use them in your lessons
