Students tackle Make It in Manufacturing challenge
Business Studies students got a practical experience of industry as they competed with a dozen other schools at the Make It in Manufacturing Challenge.
Taking on the Director roles in their own company, the students received a series of business-centred tasks to complete, creating and bringing their own product to market.
The students had to create their own design of soap dispenser. The students designed and presented to the judges their creation aimed specifically at the teenage market.
Employees from the sponsors McBride made up the judging panel. Middleton-based McBride is a leading manufacturer of household and personal care products.
Head of Computing & Business Andy Maher said, “The team was excited by the challenge and showed excellent teamwork and business understanding. The event is a great experience for students so early in their Business Studies GCSE.”
The competition gives schools the opportunity to work with businesses helping students be aware of opportunities in manufacturing, and promoting the sector as an interesting and rewarding career choice for young people.
