Sports Award success enjoys another lap

Excellence in PE rewarded at The Radclyffe School

Students and teachers at The Radclyffe School are celebrating the school winning the Commitment to PE and Sport award at the Oldham Sports Awards.

The prize recognises the quality and variety offered in Physical Education at the Chadderton school. Students have taken part in more than 20 sports and activities in the past year. They have used both the outstanding facilities available at the Hunt Lane site as well as locations as diverse as mountain biking on Oldham Edge, Climbing at Mahdlo and skating, archery and wheelchair basketball at school.

Amongst students’ options for study at GCSE are both Physical Education and Sports Studies. Achievement is high with 78% achieving A*-C, well above national averages.

School Sport Coordinator Marc Finc said, “We are delighted to receive this award, and particularly proud of our students’ achievement. Across PE and Sports Studies lessons, students are excited and inspired with the choice of sports we can offer, so everyone can find something to enjoy and thrive at.”

The Radclyffe School has enjoyed repeated success at the Oldham Sports Awards, which has led to the team entering the Greater Manchester Sports Awards. This prestigious ceremony takes place at The Point, Old Trafford Cricket Ground in November.
