Students take a look at Apprenticeship options
A ‘hands on ‘ event gave students at The Radclyffe School an insight into Apprenticeships as a route into satisfying and rewarding careers.
An invited group of students spent some time learning about what apprenticeships involve, before attending an Apprenticeship Fair at the Chadderton school where a variety of employers and training providers set up displays and ‘activity areas’. The students were able to get a feel for some of the skilled jobs that are available.
To round off the apprenticeships-themed events, a final session gave practical advice on everything from CV writing to interview techniques, and advice on avoiding the common mistakes that might put an employer off.
Apprenticeships offer on the job training together with study in a huge choice of possible careers. They can take between one and four years to complete depending on their level. Some of the UK’s biggest employers are involved as well as many smaller local companies.
Careers Advisor Rowena Starr said, “Apprenticeships are a great way to train for the career that you want, working and learning at the same time. Former students have taken on an apprenticeship and found it very rewarding, so it’s no surprise that we have had several students register their interest in starting an apprenticeship later this year.”
