Outstanding results celebrated

Well done Year 11! Superb GCSE results

There were tears of joy as the students celebrated outstanding results at The Radclyffe School. Students raised their glasses of Schloer (other soft drinks were available!) to their remarkable results.

Simple comparisons of 2017 results with previous years are not possible due to the more challenging curriculum and the new grading system of 9 to 1 introduced in English and Mathematics. The headline data were:

• 78% of students achieving grades 4+ in GCSE English (64% achieving 5+ grades)

• 69% of students achieving grade 4+ in GCSE Maths (48% achieving 5+ grades)

• 64% of students achieved grades 4+ in both English and Maths (43% achieving 5+ grades in both)

• Nearly half of all grades were A*-B or grades 9-5.

• Attainment 8 score 44.04

• 61% of students achieved a 4+ grade and a C or better in the core subjects of English, Maths and Science

• 57% of students achieved a C or better grade in at least two Sciences

Other high achieving subjects were:
Art 90% A*-C (44% A*-A),
Hospitality 86% A*-C (35% A*-A),
Religious Studies 79% A*-C (44% A*-A)
History 79% A*-C (19% A*-A)
Photography 100% A*-C (26% A*-A)
Textiles 100% A*-C (33% A*-A)

There were some exceptional individual performances with Ayesha Akhtar topping the list with 6 A* grades and a grade 9 and 8 in Maths and English.

Mohammed Fahim Ahmed our Head Boy in 2016/17 was the highest achieving boy with 5 A* grades, 2 A grades and grade 9 in both Maths and English. Mumtaz Khatun and Mumina Faraz both achieved 2 A* grades and 5 A grades in addition to grades 8 and 7 in Maths and English.

Samaaum Khan (1 A* and 6 A grades) and Jessica Costello (1 A* and 5 A grades) in addition to grades 7-9 in English and Maths were also among the top achievers.

Headteacher, Hardial Hayer, said, “Our students have achieved some exceptional results even with the new reformed and more challenging GCSEs in English and Maths. Their achievements show that anything is possible at The Radclyffe School. Each year our students exceed all expectations and deliver outstanding results. I am absolutely delighted that our fantastic students have achieved record results for the fourth year in a row. Our journey to beyond outstanding continues. I commend the students, staff and parents for these amazing results and wish our students the very best for the future”.
