Judo champion inspires students to succeed
Students at The Radclyffe School enjoyed a visit from Michelle Vidler, 2002 Commonwealth Games Judo Champion and an Olympian in Beijing in 2008, today.
Michelle came to the school as part of the Sky Sports Living for Sport programme. This brings champion ambassadors from varied sports into schools to mentor and inspire students to reach their goals and achieve the very best they can.
The youngsters looked at what they need to succeed – learning about mental toughness, a hunger to achieve and the ability to break through barriers.
Visiting for the whole day, Michelle worked with year groups throughout the school. Michelle said, “It was a pleasure to work with a really good group of talented young people. Their enthusiasm was great to see. I hope they will use what they‘ve learned and take this further to ensure they are successful in all that they do.”
Teacher of PE Tony Ventre said, “It is a positive experience for all our students to be inspired by a champion and they responded very well. Living for Sport is great for the school, motivating students to make positive changes to their lives through sport.”
