Masks make for dramatic lessons

Students enjoy mask theatre workshop

GCSE Drama students brought their talents to a dramatic introduction to acting using theatrical masks in their lessons.

A visit from mask theatre specialists Trestle Theatre Company allowed the talented students to explore a huge choice of emotions. Each of the masks illustrated a different feeling such as surprise, sadness, anger, joy and grumpiness.

Students in Years 9, 10 and 11 working towards their GCSE in Drama took part in workshops to improvise how they react in the emotion of their mask. Head of Drama Mrs Groves said, “The students were really imaginative and enthusiastic and came up with some great ideas.”
