Spooky stories surface from author’s attendance
A post Hallowe’en visit from The Radclyffe School’s Author-in –Residence, Mark Wright was an opportunity for students to explore the inspiration and creation of spooky stories.
Students in Years 7 and 8 worked with Mark to find out what gave him ideas for stories. He read from his latest short story The Corridor, a tale of a brother and sister moving into a scary, sprawling old house in Yorkshire.
To help the students create their own stories they started by thinking about what scared them. With these ideas the groups worked on writing their own tales of terror.
The Radclyffe School is unique in Greater Manchester and one of only two schools in the North West in having its own Author-in-Residence to boost students’ literacy and creativity in writing.
