Twist & Pulse inspire dance decisions
Students thinking of choosing Dance as an option at GCSE had an encouraging experience with the visit of Britain’s Got Talent stars, Twist & Pulse.
The London–based duo worked with Year 8 students, introducing them to Street Dance and developing a routine.
Twist (Ashley Glazebrook) and Pulse (Glen Murphy) are graduates and formerly teachers at the BRIT School of Performing Arts. They were runners up in the 2010 series of Britain’s Got Talent which has led to a professional career in dance.
Students learned the techniques of ‘popping and locking’ as part of their routine. A question and answer time saw them find out more about the value of dance and how Twist and Pulse have developed their careers.
Teacher of PE Katie Parkinson said, “The students had an inspiring time, learning from such talented and entertaining teachers. It was clear that Dance GCSE can provide students with lots of opportunities from teaching through to performances.”
