Industrial Action – School Closure – 5th July 2016
Dear Parent / Carer
You may be aware from the national press that one of the teacher unions (the NUT) has recommenced a dispute with the Secretary of State over pay and conditions of service. It is not a matter that the school can resolve locally. They have called their members to take industrial action on Tuesday 5th July.
Having completed a health and safety risk assessment based on the number of staff we anticipate will be taking action, the decision is that the school will be closed to students on Tuesday 5th July.
The school will be open as normal to staff who are not in the NUT and those not taking industrial action.
I hope with advance notice you are able to make suitable arrangements for your child(ren). Work is available on the school’s Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) which students can access on the school’s website, via the internet and using their normal login details. If students have any difficulties with access, please contact the school office for advice. I apologise for the disruption. We hope that the issues over which the industrial action has arisen are resolved as soon as possible and without recourse to further school closure. I will keep you informed at the earliest opportunity of any further impact. Thank you for your co-operation.
