Students’ designs mark Holocaust commemoration
Students from The Radclyffe School have designed invitations and have been invited to take part in a commemorative event to mark this year’s Holocaust Memorial Day.
The event, attended by the Deputy Mayor Councillor Fida Hussain, takes place on Wednesday 29 January at Oldham Lifelong Learning Centre.
Students from the Year 9 GCSE Fine Art group created an invitation card and portfolio cover that will be used at the event. The designs incorporate powerful and emotive imagery around the history of the Holocaust.
During the event, students will accompany Teacher of Humanities Miss Jacob to read a series of Reflections on the Holocaust entitled ‘Untold Stories’. Miss Jacob said, “We are very honoured to play a part in the borough’s commemorative event for Holocaust Memorial Day. The students have put a lot of thought into creating their artwork.”
The Radclyffe School is taking the opportunity to enable students to learn more about the Holocaust and the experiences of refugees, with a display on show throughout the week on the theme of journeys.
