Sweet time for Children in Need
Raising money for Children in Need was a ‘sweet’ experience at The Radclyffe School this year.
Students organised lots of activity in school to raise money, with cakes and sugary treats a popular feature.
A competition to guess the weight of a specially-baked fruit cake (baked by Teacher of Maths Mrs Ball) set mathematical minds thinking – calculating the volume, density, then guessing the weight! While they were thinking there were hundreds of cakes, from fairy to tea, on offer to tempt pennies out of purses.
‘How many sweets in the jar?’ also proved a popular competition, as the full-to-the-brim jar was the prize. There were lots of Children in Need goodies available to buy, and students could have their photo taken in a special photo booth with a range of Children in Need props.
Pudsey Bear putting in an appearance went down well with youngsters (and the young at heart!)
Year 11 student Rebecca Jolley, Head of the Charity Team said, “Every year it gets better and better. We hope we’ve raised even more than last year. The students show a lot of interest in Children in Need because they’ve grown up with it and it’s been around a long time.”
