Early welcome to new students at The Radclyffe School

Year 6 pupils enjoy their Induction Day

Year 6 children from schools across Oldham borough and beyond are getting a taste of secondary school life today, 3 July.

All the children will be starting at The Radclyffe School in September and to help them make the step up, they are spending the day sampling lessons in Science, Maths, History, PE and Art. As a special literacy treat, children’s author Mark Wright will be in school. Mark is best known as the author of Doctor Who audiobooks. He will be working with pupils to encourage reading, sharing his childhood experiences and sharing how he creates new monsters when writing.

All the pupils met their new Year Manager, Mrs Imeson and their Personal Learning Guide. At the school, all students meet one-to one with a member of staff who mentors and supports them throughout their time at the school.

During their lunch break the pupils were entertained with a preview of The Radclyffe School’s performance of Alice in Wonderland, which the school’s talented students are performing next week.

And it isn’t just the pupils that are catered for. On Thursday 4 July the school opens its doors to its new parents, to let them see the superb facilities at the Hunt Lane building.
