Colourful clothing from pillow cases

Textile talent creates delightful dresses

A new dress from an old pillowcase – that was the challenge taken up by Year 9 GCSE students at The Radclyffe School. Their creations are being sent to South Africa to benefit dozens of girls.

The school is working with the charity Hope 4 Women International on a project called ‘Dress a girl around the world’. The charity will arrange for the colourful finished dresses to be delivered to girls who may never have owned their own dress before.

Teacher of Textiles Mrs Jones said, “It’s been very rewarding for the students to able to develop their skills on a practical project. They were pleased with the dresses they created and very happy to see them go to benefit children in another country.”
