Carnival cause for celebration

Celebration Evening 2013

A Brazilian Carnival, complete with spirited dancers, drummers, colourful costumes and capoeira came to school on 23 May.

The evening was also a celebration of achievement throughout the school, with awards presented to students who have done exceptionally well this year.

Students have worked over several months to rehearse their performances and create the outfits. The school was proud to welcome the new Mayor of Oldham, Councillor John Hudson, attending his first official engagement.

This is the third Carnival at The Radclyffe School, with a different international theme each year. Teacher of Art, Katie Green said, “Staff and students have worked closely with Bangdrum arts, and with other artists and performers to learn new skills. We really appreciate the wonderful work they have done to help us put together the carnival.”

The creative methods of learning help to support the whole of the curriculum at The Radclyffe School. Creative thinking and learning influences subjects throughout the school, improving how students learn and how well they achieve.
