Since May 2011 it has been compulsory for 11-16 year olds to carry an IGO card in order to obtain the child concessionary fare (half the full adult fare). Greater Manchester children aged under 11 can also apply for an IGO card, which is needed to purchase saver tickets e.g. System One Junior Bus Saver.
IGO cards cost £5 each and are valid until the 31st August AFTER the child turns 16, so they still get the full benefit of concessionary fares during year 11.
The IGO card is posted to the customer with 7-10 working days. If there is a problem with the application we will let the customer know.
Yellow School Buses are a great way for children to travel to school.
They have been a big success throughout Greater Manchester since they were introduced in 2003, providing a safe, reliable and environmentally friendly alternative to the school run.
To be put on the Yellow Bus Scheme customers need to complete an application form on line at http://www.tfgm.com/buses/yellowschoolbus/Pages/default.aspx
There are a limited number of seats available on the Yellow School Bus services.
All applications are dealt with on a “first come, first served” basis.
If a seat is available on the service required a Yellow School Bus Pass is sent to the customer, to be used alongside their IGO card. If no seats are available the customer is informed and put on a waiting list for when one is available
