A Letter From The Head Teacher:
Dear Parents,
At The Radclyffe School our aim is to provide the widest educational opportunity to all our students, that is, extending the most able and challenging and stretching the less able and less well motivated students.
In other words we want every individual child to achieve personal excellence.
We want our school to be a first class place of
learning and a caring community, where children
feel happy and secure and where the emphasis
is on achievement.
As a specialist technology college we see information technology as a key tool for learning and preparation for the wider world.
Many visitors have commented upon the purposeful and friendly working atmosphere within our school.
I believe that this arises partly out of the approachable style of staff, who work hard to get to know the children well, and partly out of the firm but fair discipline we try to maintain.
The transfer to Secondary School can be worrying - for instance, children go to different classrooms in a larger building for specialist subjects.
Due to our split site we are not as large as many high schools and thus enjoy the benefits of a small secondary school together with all the resources, expertise and advantages which a large high school brings.
For teaching purposes we group children according to ability which allows us to cater most effectively for the individual needs of each child.
The fact that we try to keep the same Personal Tutor and Year Manager for each child during their time in school, means that children soon settle into our school without experiencing any major problems.
We rely on the support of parents - for instance
in encouraging students to do homework - and
we ask you to let us know if you have any
concern.
In return we will keep you informed not just of problems, but also of achievements.
This partnership with parents to achieve high standards is summed up by our mission statement of
“Working Together for Excellence”.
If you decide to entrust us with your child’s education, I am confident that your child will experience a first class education.
Please come to our Open Evening in the Autumn
Term and visit us during the course of a normal
day and judge for yourself.
The staff and I look forward to working with you
in the months and years ahead to achieve the
personal excellence I mentioned at the top of
the page,
Yours sincerely,
H.S. Hayer [Head teacher]
